Jet lag was my friend until about an hour ago. My eyelids are leaden, and my coffee capacity was reached hours ago. And yet this morning, I woke up around 5:30 am and felt beyond-refreshed. Is this how I would feel as a little kid, rising before 6 am to catch the beginning of "Captain Bob" on Sunday mornings?

Well, I'm back from an absolutely perfect week of decompression in Key West. In between sips of Sunset Ale (the local brew) and slurps of raw oyster, Dan and I managed to pick out a wedding locale that we're both pretty crazy about. It's outdoors, on the water, and even boasts a couple of resident bunnies that had my (28-year-old) sister running around the grounds in futile chase. She likes bunnies.

More on the trip later.... I am rapidly recompressing at work, to my chagrin. I also discovered a large blob of a clay facial mask in my eyebrow a little while ago. The perfect Monday-morning discovery. So my vacation hangover is ebbing a bit.

Oh, Dan the Sleuth informs me that something like 49 people visited his blog from my blog last week. I'm intrigued! Who is reading this besides my one loyal reader?

Dear Blog,

I'm so sorry I've been so neglectful lately. I promise it's not you. I've been busy at work, and when I haven't been busy at work I've been in a funk about work, trying to figure out what my elusive manifest destiny is and why I have yet to figure it out.

Other things. My work printer has been on the fritz for about two months. I replaced the ink cartridges with the wrong cartridges and was subsequently the veiled target of a company-wide email chastizing us for opening and then discarding the wrong ink cartridges. Meanwhile, my printer still doesn't work.

I've been having bad dreams about Pedro being in pinstripes next year.

Yet another of my bosses has quit/been fired (never clear in this environment), which means yet another reshuffling of my department, which means another effort to fly way below the radar so as to avoid any scrunity during the shift in power.

I decided to quit my fiction class because I disagreed with almost every element of the instructor's methods. But that has left me feeling like a bit of a quitter.

In other words, nothing of note has happened lately, but there have been enough petty distractions that, truth be told, I forgot about you completely. I promise to be more attentive from now on (next week's jaunt to Key West nonwithstanding).

With chagrin,
Meaghan

Greatest typo I've ever caught? Someone was writing about various cancers and left out the "L" in "colon cancer."

I'm running scared.... there is a line of thunderstorms heading my way that may contain hail ( I have no clue what a "line of thunderstorms" actually looks like, but I felt like a proper meteorologist writing that just now). I have a soft-top convertible with a ripped back window. I am dead.
